Handed a big repair or replacement quote and something about it does not sit right? Before you spend thousands, let us take a fresh look at your AC, heat pump, ductless system or gas or propane furnace. We tell you what we find, even if it backs up what you already heard.
Independent AssessmentEquipment InstallationClear Written Scope
Nobody likes being told to replace a whole system without a clear reason why. A second opinion is simply us checking the work for ourselves and explaining, in plain terms, whether the repair or replacement really makes sense. We handle AC, air-source heat pumps, ductless systems and gas or propane furnaces. Oil-furnace diagnosis stays with your oil provider, and commercial, geothermal and VRF systems are outside what we do.
You were told the system needs replacing but no readings were taken or shown to you
You want to understand why a component repair was ruled out
You want the recommendation explained against the equipment condition and repair history
Two companies gave two different answers
You felt pressed to approve work before you understood the recommendation
What the Visit Covers
We review the reported fault and earlier findings, then inspect and test the equipment within the agreed residential scope. Electrical, airflow, temperature and refrigerant checks depend on the problem. Combustion checks apply to natural-gas and propane furnaces only. Any limit on testing is recorded.
Independent diagnosis of the reported fault, with the readings written down
A plain explanation of the findings, any confirmed fault, and any further testing needed
A written repair option where repair is sound, with parts requirements
A written replacement recommendation when the findings support it, with suitable equipment options
The reasons for our recommendation, based on your system and your priorities
If our findings support the first recommendation, we explain where they agree. If testing is inconclusive, we record what remains unresolved.
What to Have Ready
The other company's quote or report, if you have it in writing
The model and serial label on the indoor and outdoor units, or photos of them
When the problem started and what the system does now
Any earlier repair records for the system
Questions About a Second Opinion
No, and that is the point. If the first quote was right, we will tell you so and explain why, so you can move ahead with confidence. We are not here to manufacture a different answer.
No. You get our findings and you decide. Any work after that is yours to approve, with no pressure from us.
Our second opinions cover residential AC, air-source heat pumps, ductless systems and natural-gas or propane furnaces. Oil-furnace diagnostics belong with your oil provider; commercial, geothermal and VRF systems are outside our scope.
We document what was checked and what remains unresolved, then explain any further diagnostic step that may help.
It comes down to three things: how old the system is, what the repair costs against the value of the whole unit, and how well it has been keeping up. Once a system is past its teens and the repairs start stacking, replacement usually makes more sense. We look at yours and tell you straight which way we would go if it were our own home, with no pressure either way. Call or text 301-355-2238 and we will walk through it.
No. We find what your system actually needs instead of selling you the biggest box we can. If a repair is the right call, we say so. If replacement is honestly the better long-term move, we explain why and leave the decision with you. That is the whole way we work.
